At our school, we teach the NSW curriculum and offer many different subjects to support each student’s learning. We know that development of skills in literacy and numeracy are the building blocks for learning and for everyday life. Our teachers use effective teaching strategies to help students achieve their goals.
Our Faculties
In the Creative and Performing Arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of Visual Arts, Visual Design, Photography and Digital Media, Ceramics, Music and Dance.
Students learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform. Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.
Students study both Visual Arts and Music as a mandatory component during Years 7 and 8. In Years 9 and 10, students have the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in other art forms through elective subjects including Dance, Ceramics, Photography and Visual Design. Students can then select from the range of courses in Years 11 and 12.

Extra-curricular
The CAPA Faculty provides the following opportunities for all music students at Erskine Park High School:
- Tuition: opportunities where students are able to be taught on a variety of instruments.
- Concert Band: opportunities for students to perform in a large ensemble in a variety of school and local events
- Rock Band: opportunities for students to perform in rock ensembles in a variety of school and local events.
English is a compulsory subject in NSW from Kindergarten to Year 12. Throughout their schooling, students learn how spoken, written and visual texts shape and communicate meaning. The texts and ideas they explore become more complex as they progress.
The English Faculty is dedicated to developing students’ confidence, creativity, and critical thinking through the study of language and literature. Our passionate team of teachers fosters a love of reading, writing, and communication by exploring a diverse range of texts – from classic and contemporary literature to film, media, and multimodal works.
Studying English helps students develop as confident communicators and thoughtful, imaginative thinkers. It builds skills in language, interpretation and expression that support their intellectual, social and emotional development, and prepares them to participate actively in their communities. Students learn to express themselves with clarity and purpose, analysing how language shapes ideas, identities, and the world around them. We offer rich opportunities for creative and persuasive writing, public speaking, performance, and close textual study, helping students develop skills that are essential for success in all areas of life.

In human society and its environment (HSIE), both subjects of history and geography are mandatory from Year 7 to Year 10.
Students learn specific historical and geographical concepts and skills in history and geography. They also have an opportunity to learn more about people and the societies and environments in which they live through elective subjects in Years 7 to 10 (Stages 4 to 5).
A large number of individual subjects make up the key learning area of HSIE in which students:
- research, gather and analyse information
- question and make judgements
- write for a variety of purposes.

The Mathematics Faculty is committed to delivering high-quality, differentiated instruction that meets the diverse needs of all students. We offer the complete range of NSW Mathematics courses from Year 7 to Year 12, including Mathematics Standard, Mathematics Advanced, Mathematics Extension 1, and Mathematics Extension 2, allowing every student to follow a pathway that matches their ability and goals.
Our experienced teachers provide targeted support beyond the classroom to build confidence and mastery:
- Lunch and recess drop-in help – daily one-on-one assistance from staff
- Maths Study Group – regular after-school sessions for revision, problem-solving, and exam preparation
We focus on fostering a love of mathematics through engaging, evidence-based teaching that drives student growth and success.

Science 7-10 provides a way of inquiring about the world around us. It explores evidence and investigates ways to discover, develop and produce solutions to real-world problems. Science emphasises the skills for working scientifically, as well as critical and creative thinking to address scientific issues. The study of science has led to an evolving body of knowledge organised as an interrelated set of models, theories, laws, systems, structures and interactions.

PDHPE provides students with opportunities to explore issues that are likely to impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others – now and in the future. Students also participate in challenging and enjoyable physical activity, improving their capacity to move with skill and confidence.

The Technological and Applied Studies (TAS) Faculty at Erskine Park High School provides students with dynamic, hands-on learning experiences that build creativity, problem-solving, and real-world skills. Our faculty offers a broad range of courses including Food Technology, Design and Technology, Textiles, Industrial Technology, Engineering, and Information and Software Technology, as well as VET courses in Hospitality and Construction.
Students engage in authentic, project-based learning that encourages innovation, sustainability, and collaboration. From designing and producing practical projects to exploring future-focused industries such as design, engineering, and food science, TAS equips students with transferable skills for further study, careers, and everyday life.

What students learn
Students learn a wide range of subjects in the NSW curriculum. They build skills, think creatively and prepare for life beyond school.
At our school, students can take part in special religious education (SRE). A feature of the public education system in NSW is the opportunity to provide time in class for education in ethics, Faith and morality at the choice of parents/careers.
Erskine Park High School provides special Religious education classes for Year 7 students. When enrolling your child, you’ll be able to choose an option between Combined Christian, Islamic Faith or Alternative activities (Focuses on Wellbeing, School Values and Critical thinking activities) from the approved providers offered at our school.
