Regular attendance is essential for student success. Being at school every day helps students build important skills, stay connected with their peers and teachers, and achieve their learning goals. When students attend school consistently, they are more likely to thrive academically and socially.

Why Attendance Matters

Whole Day absence from school

If your child is absent from school, a parent/carer can provide an explanation by Responding to the text Message that you receive, entering the reason through the Sentral Parent Portal, emailing the reason and any relevant documentation such as a medical certificate to erskinepk-h.admin@det.nsw.edu.au or calling the front office on 9834 3536.

Alternatively, a note written by the student's parent/carer can be delivered to the front office upon the student's return to school.

Late arrival to school

If your child arrives late to school they must always sign in at the front office before going to class. A parent/carer can provide an explanation by Responding to the text Message that you receive, emailing the reason and any relevant documentation such as a medical certificate to erskinepk-h.admin@det.nsw.edu.au or calling the front office on 9834 3536.

Alternatively, a note written by the student's parent/carer can be delivered to the front office upon the student's arrival to school.

Early leave from school

If your child needs to leave school early, please notify the school in advance by sending a note with the student or emailing erskinepk-h.admin@det.nsw.edu.au with the reason and time that your child needs to leave.

Alternatively you can come into the front office or give us a call on 9834 3536. Please be advised if no notice is given it could take some time to get your child down to the front office during certain times of the day.

Extended leave requests

If your child will be absent from school for more than three consecutive school days, an Extended Leave Form must be completed prior to their absence. Approval from the school principal is required for extended leave.

If you are travelling overseas additional documentation such as your Flight Itinerary will need to be submitted along with the completed form.

The Extended Leave Form can be collected from the front office, or a copy can be emailed to you if you require.
