The study of mathematics is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.
By studying mathematics, students learn to work mathematically – developing fluency, understanding, problem-solving, reasoning and communication skills.
The syllabus consists of the following strands:
- number and algebra
- measurement and geometry
- statistics and probability.
Mathspace
All of our students are registered to use the fabulous teaching and learning resource at Mathspace, and with thanks to our parents and citizens' (P&C) association and maths faculty, it has been made available to our entire school community free of charge.
Given that the program covers most of the concepts that we teach, and as good as this resource is, the school wishes to make it clear that it was never intended by its creators to replace the good work that our mathematics teaching staff already do. This program is best used as a support to the classroom teaching and learning experience.
